Frolicking in the Aegean Sea

We awoke to cloudy, rainy skies and were a little disheartened that our day at the beach would be spoiled, but thank heaven the wind blew the clouds and storm away and we were able to go to the beach.  Niecy came up with the brilliant idea of renting a paddle boat and taking it out for a couple of hours onto the sea, so we did!  We rented a boat, complete WITH a slide, and loaded our stuff on board.  With Niecy and Sarah paddling away, I was lounging in the back, taking in the beautiful sights on the shore.  The water in the sea is so very calm, with little to no tide.  The sea floor and beach is made up entirely of rocks!  That is just so foreign to me who is used to shells.  We paddled out and then just floated for a while, and then we decided to check out why the water turns from such a light color to such a royal blue...  we weren't sure if we would actually be able to see it, or if the color would just kind of blend in.  As we paddled, we could see the bottom so clearly, we were sure that we were still in pretty shallow water.  (We later learned that looks can be deceiving, as we were really in deep water!)  Anyway, we DID see where

it changed color, and it was because the sea shelf all of a sudden literally DROPS OFF!  It was an
eerie feeling floating over "the abyss" as we named it, we all got very quiet and almost held our breath.  We then got freaked out enough to paddle ourselves
out of there as quick as we could!  lol.   Here is a photo of Niecy and I, showing our distinct color variation...  she DID end up getting more color as the days wore on, but then, so did I!  I brought the makings for a picnic (OOPS!  I left the ice chest back on the beach so we had to go back to the land to get it) but then enjoyed salami, cheese, and hunks of bread, along with our Greek beer.  What more could we ask for?  We had such a blast out there frolicking on the Aegean Sea. After we had to take our boat back, we lounged on the beach for the rest of the day.  We headed back to the hotel for showers and naps and then decided to go shopping for a

while.  There are a plethora of shops, of every size and variety to match all of your Greek shopping desires.  We were mostly just looking, but enjoyed what we saw.  We then decided that we wanted to do a happy hour on the beach.  We picked up some snacks and Greek beer and a few other beverages and went to relax lounging on the shore of the beautiful sea.   A cool breeze, water slowly rippling in to the shore, hanging out with good friends... and as the sun was going down, we were toasting to how wonderful our lives are...
                    "Na zdravye!"  (Cheers!).
