Something Fishy...

Monday morning broke with sunny skies.  We missed breakfast because we slept in, so we got ready for the beach and headed out to have our first gyro.  We were the first customers of the day at Gyrosland and we ordered our food.  We watched as the man cut off the pieces of meat, and created our pitas.  They were just delicious!  And the best part was they put french fried IN the sandwich and then topped it with a mustard and ketchup drizzle.  Mmmmm!  After we leisurely ate our breakfast, we headed down to the beach.
We were surprised that is was more crowded than it was on the weekend!  I believe that the tourist season has begun!  We laid out on the beach most of the day, found fun ways to occupy our time (YES, I have my suit on!)  and then headed back to the hotel for showers and naps.  We all had to go shopping for souvenirs for ourselves, family, and friends so we headed to the many shops that were clustered around the town.  My goal was to find a cute white dress.  We checked many shops and with luck, I finally found a cute one that I will wear out later!  Niecy and Sarah also found something cute.
(BTW...  Sarah is here in Macedonia on a Professional Exchange that is also
sponsored by Tempe Sister Cities.  We have gotten to be good friends, and were very happy she could join us on this adventure!)
So,anyway, as we were out and about, we came across something called a "Fish Spa"...  WHAT? you ask... well, let me just tell you!  Our world traveler friend Sarah had already tried it, and said it was amazing.  Niecy was very interested, and I was a little creeped out by it...  anyway, there are various setups for this interesting spa.  Some have a big long "aquarium" and others are set up with individual aquariums like the ones you see here.  There are these little fish

called Garra Rufa that were discovered in the town of Kangal in Turkey and with a light sucking-kisses (because they have no teeth) removes the dead cells from your feet...  (Yes, I was thinking the EXACT same thing!!!)  At the same time it secretes an enzyme that contributes highly to the regeneration of the skin.  Hmmmm.  How could I pass up something like that?!  So, I went for it.  We paid our 10 Euro and had the next 20 minutes (actually 30, because the man gave us some free time because we were doing such a good job attracting other customers to his shop), and as soon as you put your feet in the tank all of these little fish start sucking/kissing your feet.  It is kind of tickle y and kind of creepy at the same time.  lol.  But where we were done, our feet looked and FELT amazing!  So, I would highly recommend this strange, but exciting and somewhat odd spa visit the   next time you need some dead cells sucked off!
Our last night in Greece began with showers and getting ready to go out on the town. We all wore a new dress and headed out to find a new, nice place to cap off the incredible time that we had had here in Hanioti.  As we looked for a place we continued to meander through shops and enjoy the relaxing ambiance and weather that  Greece is famous for.  We finally found a beautiful outside bar and sat under a cabana and had a cocktail and a couple hours of talking and people watching.  This must be our day to get free stuff, because the manager brought us out free jello shots!  lol.  Bottoms up!  Anyway, I will add the picture of the three of us tomorrow, but here is a pix of me in my new dress, showing off my tan!  And, yes Alexis, I AM wearing one of the sweaters you loaned me...  the weather was just the slightest bit cool, but the color also really looked good with my white dress, and it complimented my tan nicely.  Thanks!
